THE PRESSED PLATE
Fresh Crafted Eatery
How did I come up with the name? A press plate is a sheet of aluminum that contains the image of a newspaper page on it. Ink is applied to the plate than transferred to paper. Each plate is a unique and lasting piece of the newspaper production process. The “Pressed,” is in the past tense, referring to the history of the building combined with our menu concept offering pressed sandwiches, “Hot Off The Press!”
We moved to Ephrata, from Denver, Colorado, in July 2017 having seen our new home only once. We came here with a purpose, to be close to our family and start our own small businesses together with each others support! My dream has always been to create and operate a sandwich eatery serving people in my community. As we got settled, I researched the history of our town and property here at 50 East Main Street. The Ephrata Review thrived in this building for over 100 years, from 1886-1987, as a family owned and operated establishment. With the help of my husband and family: the concept for The Pressed Plate was born! This process of planning, designing and restoring this space has truly been our family’s labor of love and I could not be more grateful and honored to share it.
The Pressed Plate is a vintage, modern eatery set in historic building on Main Street, giving a nod to the printing press through its history, artwork and atmosphere! Our fresh crafted menu features Hot “Pressed” Sandwiches, Burgers, Salads, Soups and Sides. We will offer a unique seasonal menu which rotates every 3 months, specialty Iced Teas & Lemonades and, of course, a few Sweet Treats!! It is our passion to source as many locally fresh ingredients as we can, “Fresh Crafting” everything in house! Welcome to The Pressed Plate.
